EVTeC'11 - Why now? Why Japan?
In recent years, electric vehicles have become a hot topic, and symposiums and exhibitions have been held in countries all around the world. The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE) is no exception and every year hosts sessions related to EVs featuring announcements of the latest technology and vigorous debate, which have all been extremely well attended.
Hybrid electric vehicles are already on sale around the world, and the mass production and global sale of EVs is due to start in 2010.
International standardization is also the subject of a host of proactive proposals and lively discussions. From the standpoint of encouraging full-scale popularization of EVs, we feel that now is the best timing to hold an international conference in Japan.
As a step toward achieving a Low Carbon Society, we want to create a forum for vehicle researchers and engineers from inside and outside Japan to pool their collective strength and share and discuss issues.
EVTeC'11 will be held at Pacifico Yokohama as a first international conference, alongside the annual Spring Congress of the JSAE. Roughly 70,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition.
Participation in the Spring Congress and exhibition is free of charge and these events are an excellent opportunity to see the very forefront of activities being carried out in Japan.
We look forward to meeting you in Yokohama in May!
